Delivering mail

[REDACTED] at [REDACTED] FT Carrier was walking up the steps to [REDACTED] on his route when a dog he claims he is unfamiliar with and that was leashed on the porch in an open cage. He quickly backed up from the porch and his foot slipped on the landing at the bottom of the top set of steps causing his left knee that is already hurt from a previous injury to jerk and start swelling. Employee reported the incident and management went to the scene. Carrier continued to deliver for approximately an hour before returning to the post office with the remainder of his route reported to management that he was still in significant pain and that his knee was swelling. He then signed his CA-1 form and went to ER. Carrier had satchel and spray. No dog paw program RIMS alert or dog warning card as carrier states he had never seen the dog at this residence previously.
