What happened

Patient became agitated and aggressive towards the respecting nurses attending him and proceeded to punch the nurse in the chest while sitting on a wheelchair. I made the decision to hold his shoulders down from behind in order to stop the physical violence towards the nurse. Patient then became aggressive towards me and proceeded to bite my left hand with great force and forcing his head away from it. I then proceeded to place my right thumb in between his teeth in order to avoid further perforation of the skin by using my nail and grasping my right hand around his jaw in order to pull down his mouth in order to avoid any aggressive movements of the head. I then ask the other team members to help me liberate my hand by pressing against the patient 's jaw in order to weaken his bite on my hand. Once my hand was liberated the patient was taken into restraints and I was directed to go to the emergency department to get further treatment.
