Personal care of a combative patient possibly going through withdrawal syndrome

The patient kicked her in the head earlier in the shift around [REDACTED] which resulted in the patient being in restraints. The employee denies any pain or residual effects from this event. [REDACTED] the EE and House Supervisor were assisting in turning the patient to her right side to change bed sheets that were soiled. The pt 's L hand was unrestrained during the turn in which she struck the employee on her left hand with either the patients hand or arm per EE. She states she immediately felt 10 10 pain in the left hand. Employee resumed working until the end of her shift at [REDACTED]. She states there was swelling and bruising of left hand w pain rating 5 10 in ER. She did report mild tingling and numbness of left hand pinky up into her wrist. She was treated in ED w Tylenol. Denies hx of injury surg to LHand.
