Before the incident
Standing between patient cot and street-side cabinet starting an IV resraining the line and attempting to restrict patient movement until line could be secured. Attempted to drop the IV sharps into the sharps receptacle on the wall that was beside and slightly behind worker; missed the opening of the receptacle.
What happened
Worker picked up the sharps to try to drop in the receptacle again but the needle had not been retracted completely and stuck the worker in the palm.
