Before the incident
Taking trash hopper to the trash compactor via forklift.
What happened
The material handler was dumping an older style trash hopper that had no chain and required the handler to push up on the bottom of the hopper in order to empty into the compactor. The handler pushed the hopper up and emptied the trash into the compactor but left his right hand on the lower framing as the hopper came back down. The handlers right middle and ring fingers were pinched smashed by the hopper coming down and resting on the framing of the hopper.
