What happened
[REDACTED] put his thumb between the guard and the plate he was punching holes in. After the hole was punched the machine came back up and caught the tip of the left thumb between the plate material and the machine guard.
Injury or illness
There is still a significant amount of pressure on the way back up. It appears that when the thumb was under pressure the instinct was to pull the thumb away and the thumb nail was partially torn and there was a cut in the skin as a result as well.
