Before the incident
Employee had completed a VFD drive and was starting new task.
What happened
The employee was removing one of the drives on a 300hp ULH drive in order to find a screw that had been dropped while reinstalling plexiglass shield. The shield had been removed to find power source for the power leads on the fan drive side of cabinet. Once drive was removed screw was found along with another screw from the manufacturer. In the process of reinstalling drive the center of gravity shifted causing top of drive to tilt backwards towards the cabinet smashing his left hand between drive and cabinet.
