Cutting pipe sections with a stationary band saw.

After cutting a 20-foot section of a 6-inch by 1 4-inch steel pipe down to 62-inches it was moved from the Celanese Saw Shop into the [REDACTED] area by two-(2) staff members and placed in the sandblast unit. After the blast process was completed staff members placed the section of pipe horizontally onto the shop floor. A Saw Shop employee made the decision to move the section of pipe by himself outside the shop to the kit staging area. The length of the pipe section required him to fully extend his arms outward to grasp the pipe section at both ends to lift the pipe. After lifting the pipe section he took a couple of steps and felt a ripple sensation in his left bicep. He continued another 15-20 feet with the pain increasing in his arm to the kit staging area. It was determined by the Engineering Group the pipe section weighed approximately 90 lbs.

Torn tendon left bicep.

62-inch section of steel pipe.

Lifting 62-inch x 6-inch piece of steel pipe torn tendon left bicep.
