Employee climbed a ladder stepped off onto manure belt frame to tension a belt.

Employee climbed a ladder then stepped off onto manure belt frame. In doing this he crossed over the fall protection railings to the front of the machine. Employee attempted tensioning the belt but the wrench slipped off and he fell backwards into a lower area.

Multiple pelvic fracture mild displaced acute fracture left transverse process vertebra lumbar 1 and multiple acute fractures of the posterior 11th and 12th ribs with nondisplaced left posterior rib fracture.

Employee didn 't follow training and took a short cut. The employee put himself in a fall hazard and when his wrench slipped there was no fall protection to stop or assist with his fall. Employee fell approx. 8.5 ' onto concrete.
