What happened

Around [REDACTED] the employee was picking cases of Tempura batter from [REDACTED] for an outbound delivery. There were 2 extra layers on top of the full pallet increasing the height of the cases from 55 to 68 from the floor (including the height of the fixed bin). As they went to grab 3 cases from the top of the pallet 2 cases of product began to fall from the top left side of the pallet. The employee attempted to quickly break the fall of the product with the back of the left hand and was struck with the corner of both falling boxes in the same spot between the knuckles of the index and middle finger. The incident was reported by the employee to a crew leader immediately internal first aid was applied in the form of a cold compress and Ibuprophen. The employee at first elected to remain at work but after returning from their lunch break the pain and swelling had increased and the middle two fingers were numb and difficult to move.
