Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees were exposed to a potential fall and/or crushing hazard which was caused by inadequate bracing and support of roof trusses. A feasible method of abatement includes but not limited to: adequate bracing of continuous lumber (no less than 2" x 4" nominal) running parallel to the ridge line and spaced 8' to 10 ' apart in the top chord and bottom chord planes. These are to be supplemented with diagonal bracing (no less than 2" x 4" nominal) spaced no more than 20 feet apart in the top and bottom chord planes and among the web members. These are to be secured with 16 d nails.
