Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.
The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely
to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to the hazards associated with working in
close proximity to live, exposed electrical parts:
(a)  Towne House Condominiums, Lido Beach - An
employee with the job title of Cable Splicer
was accessing a live front, 75KVA pad mounted
single phase transformer without appropriate
personal protective equipment; on or about
03/17/93.
ABATEMENT NOTES:
Among other methods, one feasible method to reduce this hazard is
to establish and enforce adequate workrules. Procedures such as
those stipulated by ANSI C-2: National Electrical Safety Code, Sec.
422A1. Elements essential to an acceptable program are already
included in Long Island Lighting Company's Rules For Safe
