Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: The hazard of being struck-by a disconnected air hose which did not employ safety retainer clips/pins in the universal twist couplings which provided air to a Texas Pneumatic hammer, Serial #5018U807CE95. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to install safety pins/clips in the hose fittings as specified by Chicago Pneumatic, safety Instruction, page 2, compressed air hazards, paragraph 6, of Chicago Pneumatic Air Tools book.
