North Carolina General Statue 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees condition of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)Migrant farm workers exposed to live electrical parts as kitchen light fixture is improperly installed, in sleeping area as light switch has exposed live wiring, and as exterior refrigerator is powered through use of electrical extension cord and has no proper path to ground. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct these hazards is to provide correctly installed light fixtures and light switches. Additionally the refrigerator should be moved inside and the cord replaced with a proper three prong grounding type plug. Weekly inspection should take place by employer to ensure proper electrical maintenance and use of electrical appliances and facilities.
