SCRR 71-112A: Failed to furnish a place of employment which is free of
recognized hazards which may cause death or serious physical harm to his
employees and comply with this regulation and other occupational safety and
health rules and regulations promulgated under Chapter 15 of Title 41,
Code of
Laws, State of South Carolina, 1976, as amended, as follows:
A. Employer knew or should have known the employees working in the wood
yard
around the dry kilns were exposed to the hazards of working around Taylor
serial #S-259350 forklift with a mechanical back-up alarm that does not
always
sound and cannot be heard unless you are standing next the the wheel it is
on.
This could lead to an employee being backed over and crushed.  A useful and
feasible means of abatement among others is to install a working back-up
alarm
that is audible no matter where you are in the area of the forklift.
