Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Employees at the sewer lining assignment in Georgetown, Ohio from December 20, 1994 to approximately March 8, 1995 entered sanitary sewer manholes that were 48 inches in diameter with a depth from 6 to 15 feet without checking the percent of oxygen, toxic and combustible gases content, and providing a fresh air blower. "Among other methods one acceptable abatement method of correction is to follow the MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR CONFINED SPACE ENTRY".
