Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a. Receive serious  burns, smoke inhalation, injuries due to delay to exit
access, in case
of fire in the establishment. The following offices were not in compliance
with the
minimal occupancies requirements according to NFPA 101 Life Safety Code
1985 Cap.
27 Sec. 27-1.7.1. : 1- At the North side of the building, five employees
in
a working
area of 178.5 sq ft.; 2- At the east side of the building, four employees
in a working area
of 121 sq ft.; 3- At the South side of the building, three employees in
working area of
93.5 sq ft. Among other method, one feasible and acceptable method to
correct this
hazard is to provide  a bigger working area in compliance with the minimal
requirement
by law.
a. Recibir serias quemaduras, inhalacion de humo, lesiones dado a la
demora a accesos
de salida en caso de fuego en el establecimiento.  Las siguientes oficinas
donde no
cumplen con el minimo de ocupacion requerida de acuerdo a NFPA 101 Life
Safety
Code 1985 Cap. 27 Sec. 27-1.7.1. : 1-En el lado Norte del edificio, cinco
empleados en
un area de trabajo de 178.5 pies cuadrados; 2-En el lado Este del
edificio, cuatro
empleados en un area de trabajo de 121 pies cuadrados; 3-En el lado Sur
del
edificio,
tres empleados en un area de trabajo de 93.5 pies cuadrados. Entre otros
metodos, uno
seguro y aceptable para corregir este riesgo es proveer un area de trabajo
mas grande
donde cumpla con el requerimiento minimo por ley.
