Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Fall hazard of 9 feet while using an aluminum ladder to access the roof of the batch house which did not extend 3 feet above the roof. "AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS...." Install a ladder that extends 3 feet above the roof or install a grab bar that employees can hang on to when getting on and off of the ladder as identified in 29 CFR 1910.25(d)(2)(xu) and/or 29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1)
