Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
(a) 1300 E. Higgins Road, Schaumburg, Illinois: On or about October 16,
1997, an employee
was observed painting the exterior of the building from the platform of a
Genie S-60 aerial boom
lift.  The employee was working approximately 30 feet above ground level
without the use of
appropriate fall protection.
Among other methods, one feasible and useful method to correct this hazard
is to develop
implement and enforce a work rule(s) such those stipulated in American
National Standards
Institute A92.5 "Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms".
No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
