Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling from or being struck by the upper boom and/or basket of a Asplundh LR50 Aerial Lift: a) 133 Carter Road, Princeton, NJ 08540 - Employees were working in and around an aerial lift, which collapsed while an employee was elevated approximately 25 feet above ground level, without the manufacturer's recommended inspections having been completed. On or about 06/29/98. Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the manufacturer's recommended schedule of wire rope cable inspections. ABATEMENT NOTE: In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19, Abatement Verification, the employer will furnish certification that the described hazard has been abated. Documentation may include but is not limited to photographs, videos, work orders, invoices, training records and consultant reports. Abatement documentation must be received by the Area Director within 13 calender days of the final abatement date for this violation.
