Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnsih employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that;
On or about October 8, and at times prior thereto, employees working on
the rig floor were
exposed to the hazard of being burned from fire resulting from the
ignition of gas escaping
from the well hole.
Feasible means of abatement, among others, to correct this hazard are:
1)  Improve training of drillers and drill crew and require weekly BOP
shut-in drills to be
conducted.
2)  Ensure that no sources of ignition are located within 50 feet of the
drill hole as per
American Petroleum Institute document entitled, Safe Practices in Drilling
Operations.
