North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)electrocution - the path to ground from the frame of the 15.6 cu ft General Electric refrigerator, s/n DV 569488, used in the kitchen was not continuous which allowed the chassis of the unit to become energized with 58.6 volts exposing the employees to a potentially serious shock hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install a three wire electrical cord on the refrigerator with the green wire connected to the frame of the unit.
