Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were
likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
a. On or about September 17, 1999, an employe working from a JLG aerial
lift(self-propelled)
at the 165 N. Canal St., Chicago, IL,  jobsite was exposed to a fall due
to the lack of personal
fall arrest equipment.
Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American
National Standards
Institute, ANSI A92.5-1992 Standard for Boom-supported Elevating Platforms
and have
employees wear fall arrest equipment anytime that they are in the aerial
lift.
