General-duty citation text

Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1):  The employer did not furnish
employment and a place of
employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees:
(a)The employer used Apache PVC pipes to distribute up to 175 psi of
compressed air. The
employees working in the shop were exposed to injuries resulting from
being struck by
fragments of the PVC pipes in case it breaks and shattered into smaller
pieces.  The
manufacturer, Apache does not recommend that their PVC pipe be used for
compressed
air use.
One feasible and acceptable method among others is to use steel pipe,
steel re-enforced
rubber hose, or ABS plastic pipe for compressed air use.
