North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: 1)Employer Julie Parson Boyd failed to furnish to each employee a temporary labor camp free from recognized hazards in that an electrical light fixture in the kitchen of the temporary labor camp is improperly installed and maintained with live electrical parts exposed. The hazard exists that workers in the temporary labor camp will contact electricity, resulting in serious physical harm or death to migrant workers living in the temporary labor camp site. Among others one appropriate and feasible method of abatement is to repair, replace or remove the electrical fixture in the kitchen of the temporary labor camp site. 2)Employer Julie Parson Boyd failed to furnish to each employee a temporary labor camp site with working smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers such that a fire could be controlled in its incipient stage {reference NCGS 95-225(f)}.
