Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)Job Site: On March 16, 2002, and at times prior thereto, employees operated powered industrial trucks without wearing seat belts. AMONGST OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO REQUIRE THE USE OF SEAT BELTS WHEN OPERATING FORKLIFTS (POWERED INDUSTRIAL TRUCKS) THROUGHOUT THE ESTABLISHEMENT AS REQUIRED BY ANSI/AMSE B56.1, PARAGRAPH 5.3.19. Note: Abatement certification required for this item.
