Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were operating an alligator shear that did not have a anti-restart feature that would prevent the restarting of the shear in event of a power loss. Work Shed - The alligator shear did not have a magnetic motor starter. The disconnect located on the wall was used to start and stop the alligator shear. Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the National Fire Protection Association, NFPA 79 Section 8.14.2 - Protection. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM

Yard Crane 1973 - The sheave at the end of the lattice boom had developed ribbing from the wire rope. Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American National Standards Institute B30.5 - 1994 standard for Mobile and Locomotive Cranes. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM
