Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards associated with being struck by an unattended crane. Location: North East corner of parking lot. A crane was left unattended while the operator left the operators seat to assist a worker to unpackage and stabilize the load.(ANSI STD. 15-3.2.4 Exposing workers to struck by injuries.) One feasible method of abatement is never to lave a crane unattended.
