Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that
employee(s) were exposed to:
striking ground surfaces as a result of fall from golf cars that were
operated and occupied in an
unsafe manner:
a)Marina Storage Area - Between Rows C & D - Yamaha Two Seater Golf Car -
(Model G16A) - Two employees riding on the rear step of a moving golf car,
which was not designed for such occupancy, and which was being operated by
an unauthorized person, on or about April 17, 2001.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD OF
ABATEMENT TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD WOULD BE TO:
Follow the 1986 Edition of American National Standard Institute Standard,
Z130.1-1986,
Safety & Performance Requirements for golf cars, Section 4.2 Safety
Warnings, and the
safety operational instructions contained in the 1998 Yamaha Golf Car
Owner's
Operator's Manual G16A, G16E (P/N LIT-19626-16-99).  Those safety warnings
and
safety operational instructions include, but are not limited to:
1. Opearation by authorized persons only.
2. Do not start the vehicle until all occupants are seated.
3. Remain seated and hold on when in motion.
4. Keep entire body inside vehicle.
5. Limit the number of occupants to the listed occupancy limit.ncy
