Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of being struck or falling due to collapsing wooden truss system: a) Eagles Village, Stockbridge, GA - Construction site - The trusses (T01 and T02) at the construction site were not adequately braced to prevent collapse. On 01/25/02 a roof truss erection plan was not in effect for this installation of the 60' long trusses in that: 25 1/2" 2"x4"'s and 2-12d nail were used to secure temporary bracing, observed on or about 1/25/02. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install the trusses in accordance with the Truss Plate Institute's, "Handling, Installing & Bracing Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses, HIB-91".
