Title 40.1-51.1(a) Code of Virginia: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: Through out the upper and lower shops, the overhead automotive lifts had not been inspected by a qualified inspector in accordance with recognized standards, nor had maintenance been performed on a periodic basis, nor were maintenance records of such repairs and maintenance work maintained. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to inspect and maintain the overhead automotive lifts in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and ANSI B153.1.
