Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the following:
a.At the facility where vehicles were being lifted using a VersaLift PSL6,
the
employer did not ensure that the lift was not used beyond its 6000 lbs.

capacity. Employees were exposed to a caught-in/struck-by hazard.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct
this
include, but are not limited to the following:
1.Adopt the ANSI/ALI B153.1-1990 protocol and instruction to
operators which prohibits operators from lifting vehicles that
exceed the rated load capacity.
2.Adhere to the Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) policy: Lifting It
Right, A Safety Manual From The Automotive Lift Institute, page
10: Never overload your lift.
