Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: (a)South Side of Sinterstahl Building - Two (2) employees hung panels, approximately 20 feet above the ground, from the platform of a Genie Z-60/34 boom-supported aerial lift. These employees did not use personal fall arrest systems while working from the lift, on or about July 15, 2003. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard includes using a personal fall arrest system, with the lanyard attached to the boom or basket of the lift, as outlined in the American National Standards Institute safety standard for Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms (ANSI/SIA A92.5-1992). OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE 29 CFR 1926.453(b)(2)(v): Employee body harness and lanyard assembly was not attached to the boom or basket when working from an aerial lift. (a)South Side of Sinterstahl Building - Two (2) employees hung panels, approximately 20 feet above the ground, from the platform of a Genie Z-60/34 boom-supported aerial lift. These employees did not use personal fall arrest systems while working from the lift, on or about July 15, 2003.
