Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of falling from a scissor lift:
(a) Location - 131 River Road, Andover, MA:
On or about 09/08/2003, employees were exposed to the hazard of falling
while climbing
in and out of a scissor lift while it was elevated.
Among other means, feasible means of abatement would be to read and follow
the
manufacturer's operational manual in which it states "do not climb in and
out of the lift
while the lift is elevated".l
