Elevated work platforms used with Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks are
designed by the
manufacturer must meet design, construction, and use requirements as
outlined by ASME B56.6

acceptable industry
practices.
(a)  On or about December 29, 2003, employees of T J Custom Building,
worked in an elevated
platform suspended by a SkyTrak all-terrain lift which did not meet the
design and use
requirements of ASME B56.6 in the following areas:
1)  The guardrail around the upper periphery of the platform was
incomplete.
2)  The platform did not have the maximum work load and empty weight
information prominently marked.
3)  The platform dimension exceeded in width more than 10 inches greater
than the overall width of the truck on either side.
Among other methds, feasible and accetable means to correct these hazards
are to use a safer
alternate method such as the use of a scaffold and/or a platform approved
by the manufacturer
meeting the requirements of ASME/ANSI B56.6, 2002 for attachments on rough
terrain
forklifts.
