Title 40.1-51.1.(a); Code of Virginia: The employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or
serious physical harm to employees in that:
(a) a body belt with lanyard, required by ASME/ANSI B56.1-1988, Section
4.17.1(b), Safety Standard for Low Lift and
High Lift Trucks, is not being worn while on the platform of a Prime Mover
Battery powered Order Picker at 14370
Sullyfield Circle, Chantilly.
Note: Since employees are not wearing the required belt/lanyard when using
the order picker, a feasible and acceptable
abatement method to correct this hazard is to enforce the use of the
belt/lanyard by implementing a discipline program
for safety violations.  Another feasible abatement method to correct this
hazard is to provide employees with refresher
training on the proper use and the importance of the belt/lanyard.
