Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
(a) Show Room, Banner Area, East End - On or about December 4, 2003 an
employee was
injured when using clothesline to lift a banner.  The clothesline broke
causing the banner to drop
on the employee. The employer did not used the rope for its intended
purposes which is for
hanging clothes.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is:
(1) Use and install proper hoist devices such as overhead hoists or
manually lever hoists.
In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required
for
this violation
(using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in
addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be
included with
your certification.  This documentation may include, but not limited to,
evidence of the
purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of
abatement, or other
written records.
