Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to possible burns while manually lighting the oven burners:
a) The employer did not ensure that the ovens had been inspected,tested
and maintained.
The employer did not ensure that the auto ignition device to the ovens was
in working condition
requiring employees to open the door/ cover to the oven to manually ignite
those burners that
did not ignite with the autoignition feature. Employees used a propane
torch to ignite the
burners. Among other methods, recognized and feasible means to correct
this hazard include,
but are not limited to develop and follow a preventive maintenance program
adherence to the
manufacturer's recommendations and the Operational amd Maintenance
Checklist provided in
Annex B of the National Fire Protection Assosciation 86.osciation
