Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm:
At the jobsite on or about 09/08/05 employees were allowed to perform
maintenance on an
aircraft landing gear strut without following the outlined procedures in
the manufacture's
maintenance manual.  Employees were exposed to the type of hazards
associated with serious
injuries due to being struck by landing gear strut piston.
Among others, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to
train and enforce
the use of the aircraft maintenance manuals and the procedures outlined.
