Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to the hazard of a crushing injury from unstable
natural stone slabs
during slab transportation operations:
(A)Job site, on July 14, 2005 and at times prior employees were exposed to
the
hazard of being crushed by approximately 1200 pounds of natural stone slabs
while setting them in a vertical position and attaching the ABACO Lifter
Clamp.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct
this hazard are
to:
(1) Follow the American Marble Institute Safety Manual and the ABACO Lifter
Operations Manual concerning refraining from standing in front of stone
slabs
by having  two employees at the end of the stone using a pinch bar and
wedge.
(2)Support the slabs with heavy nylon straps wrapped vertically around the
entire
"A" frame rack until the slab is securely supported by the ABACO Lifter
Clamp.

for this item
