Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about May 27, 2006 Employees were exposed to the hazard of truss collapse due to the lack of truss bracing. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard would be to: Comply with the BCSI 1-03 Guide to Good Practice for Handling, Installing, & Bracing of Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses: "It is critical to not that all lateral bracing must be stabilized by diagonal members in the same plane. Lateral bracing by itself is not adequate without the added rigidity of triangulation from the diagonal bracing."
