Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
At the jobsite located at Whirlpool Corporation, 6400 Jenny Lind Rd., Fort
Smith, AR,
an employee was exposed to crushing injures while operating a forklift to
move material
without the use of a seat belt.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is to establish a policy that requires the use of seat belts,
communication of the
policy to employees and enforcement of the use of seat belts.ement
