Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees exposed to fall hazards: Genie GS-1930 was not used in accordance with the manufacturer requirements as outlined in ANSI A92.6-1999 Self-Propelled Elevated Work Platforms, Section 8.10(9): Personnel footing. Personnel shall maintain firm footing on the platform floor while working thereon. Climbing by occupants on the midrail or top rail of the aerial platform is prohibited. Also in Genie GS-1530/GS-1930 Genie Operator's Manual with Maintenance Information: Do not sit, stand, or climb on the platform guard rails. Maintain a firm footing on the platform floor at all times. (a)At the Airport Petroleum Clark gas station job site, an employee was exposed to fall hazards approximately 17.6' above ground when accessing/egress from the roof. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct these hazards are to: 1.Comply with the requirements of American National Standard (ANSI) A92.6- 1999 for Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms. 2.Comply with the requirements of Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) for Aerial Platform. 3.Comply with the requirements of Genie Operator's Manual with Maintenance Information GS-1930. 4.Use a portable ladder to access the roof. Certification, with date and method of abatement required. Certification of abatement is required by 29 CFR Part 1903 and is to be submitted within ten (10) calendar days after the abatement date.ment
