Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to a fire hazard:
a.On or about May 3, 2007, two employees received 2nd and 3rd degree burns
when vapors from an LPG storage tank were ignited by the sparks produced
during a grinding operation.
Among other methods one feasible means of abatement was to remove all LPG
vapors from the storage tank and test the atmosphere to ensure the area
was not
above the lower explosive limits before conducting hot work.
ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS NOT REQUIRED.
