Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:

proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the communication control offices of the Call and Travel program, AMA,
It was
observed that several chairs were damaged in a manner tht they did  not
remained stable,
and moved from side to side being inclined at a steep angle that could
cause
employees
to fall from the chairs. Some employees reported having experienced falls.
Some chairs
did not rise to the level of the desks. Others did not provide lower back
support creating
ergonomic problems at the employee's back and shoulders. Several employees
reported
having seen a doctor or lose time from work due to musculoskeletal
conditions created
or exacerbated by the condition of the chairs. Employees spend 8 hours a
day sitting in
these chairs because their functions need to be carried out while seated.
Hazard; Falls, musculoskeletal disorders.
En las oficinas de control de comunicaciones del programa Llame y Viaje de
la AMA
se observo que varias sillas estaban deterioradas de forma que no se
mantenian estables
y se movian de lado a lado quedando en angulos inclinados que podian
causar que los
empleados se cayeran de las sillas. Algunos empleados reportaron haber
sufrido caidas.
Algunas sillas no se elevaban hasta el nivel de los escritorios. Otras no
proveian apoyo
a la espalda baja creando problemas ergonomicos a la espalda y hombros.
Varios
empleados reportaron haber ido al medico o perder tiempo de trabajo debido
a
condiciones musculo-esqueletales creadas o empeoradas por la condicion de
las sillas.
Los empleados pasaban 8 horas diarias sentados en estas sillas debido a
sus funciones que
deben llevarse a cabo sentados.
Riesgo; Caidas, desordenes musculo-esqueletales.
