Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to collapse and crushing hazards from the roof collapsing onto employees: A.) On or about 2/18/09, in the facility employees were exposed to collapse and crush hazards as the wood beam roof showed visible signs of structural damage. One method of abatement is to follow all requirements and guidelines set forth in Section 115.1 of the 2006 International Existing Building Codes. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
