Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards when working with a material hoist: a)In the yard area; The employees were exposed to struck by hazards while lifting and lowering boats with a 4 ton capacity material hoist. There was no inspection process in place for inspections of the overhead hoist and it's components. ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE MEANS OF ABATEMENT WOULD BE TO: Have daily or prior to use hoist inspections that meet the requirements of the ASME B30.16-2007 Overhead underhung hoists. Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards when inflating tires without proper safety equipment: a)In the shop area; On or about 02/24/11, employees were exposed to struck by hazards while inflating all terrain vehicle tires without placing a clip on syle air chuck with a long extension hose and the tire was not placed in a safety cage or other means of protection. ONE FEASIBLE MEANS OF ABATEMENT WOULD BE TO: Follow the manufacturers tire mounting safety guidelines which includes but are not limited to utilizing a clip on style air chuck with a long extension hose, remote filler, inflation guage and a tire mounting cage or other means of protection. Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item.
