Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to crushing and struck by hazards:
(a)Facility, 1301 Broadway, Altoona, PA:  On or about 11/30/10 the below
the hook lifting
devices used in the facility to move rolls weighing between 200 and 600
lbs. did not have the
rated load capacity marked on the devices exposing employees to crushing
hazards and/or struck
by hazards from the possibility of falling loads due to exceeding the
lifting capacity.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to have the rated lifting capacities legibly printed on each device to
ensure
overloading does not
occur.
