Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not
furnish employment and a place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees:
(a)Date of Violation:12/09/10
Condition:The employer did not provide an emergency eyewash capable of
providing 15 minutes
of continuous flow while employees mixed and utilized Sakrete Stone Veneer
Mortar,
a caustic.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard, have an eyewash
that provides at least 15 minutes of continuous flow that complies with
American National Standards Institute
(ANSI) Z358.1, "Emergency Eye Wash and Shower Equipment".
Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs,
training certification, etc.) is
required for this item.
