deficiencies such as the hook load limit exceeding the beam limits and
latch hook
being broken.
b)Main building, steel welding area; Overhead Underhung 1/2 Ton crane not
inspected: On or about March 21, 2011, the employer exposed to employees to
struck by hazards in that they failed to ensure that periodic inspections
were
performed on equipment.
c)Finish Assembly Area in Main building; Overhead Underhung 1 Ton Coffin
Crane with hoist: On or about March 21, 2011, the employer exposed
employees
to struck by hazards in that they failed to ensure that periodic
inspections were
performed on equipment to recognize deficiencies such as a broken safety
latch.
Among others, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazards is
to follow the
standards in ASME B30.16.2007, section 16-2.1.3(a), periodic inspections
shall be performed.
